Make Your Own Nail Polish Display *DIY*

**this is mine pictured above, it holds about 100 nail polishes**

I'm really exicted about this post. The other day I was online looking for nail polish display racks so I can organize my growing nail polish collection. I was looking on Ebay and they are around $29.99 but shipping is a whopping $34.99!! Which would be a total of $64.98 for just one nail polish display that holds 50 polishes. I have just a little over 100 polishes so I would have to buy two of these displays, but I'd rather spend that $120+ on nail polishes!! lol

That is when I went over to YouTube to see how other girls were organizing their polish stashes. I stumbled onto this video where a girl had the genius idea on how to make her very own nail polish rack! She made it with only that foam poster board they have in drugstores and a hot glue gun. I made one that was slightly bigger than hers so I had to buy 4 poster boards which was about $16. At first I wasn't so sure how sturdy it would be with only a hot glue gun but I was very suprised to see how strong the hot glue was with this material. It took about 2 hours to make which is not too long considering I spent most of that time just staring at the poster board trying to think of what sizes to cut. After all your pieces are cut it takes maybe 10 minutes to glue it all together. It is SUPER easy to make and I would definately suggest making one in your free time. I couldn't even begin to try to explain how to create your own so I made sure to include the original video I saw below ...

It would be so cool if a company just sold the pieces pre-cut and you could just glue it together yourself. The shipping would also be a lot cheaper than buying a traditional plastic nail polish display. Well anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post. If you make one yourself or come up with any ideas on how to make this design better be sure to leave a comment! Also, I am also going to post my thanksgiving nails either on Monday or Tuesday so keep an eye out for that too. =)

  1. Hi, It's mschanelgurl. I was so excited to see that you made one yourself. Thanks for posting the video on your page of the one I made. I really like yours, it looks like it stands about 9 tiers high. I've never made one that tall before.

  2. No problem! Thanks for the great idea! Mine is 8 tiers tall and it's kinda big lol. I was wondering if I should have made 2 smaller ones but go big or go home right? haha I still didn't add the support pieces on the side && I am waiting for my cat to knock them all over! lol

  3. This is so awesome! I saw your comment on the YTers vid & I just had to visit your blog to see your results! I appreciate your having taken the time to share. I had to "follow". :O)
You have the patience of Job to cut & assemble this. But I don't blame you b/c the ebay sellers somex charge ridiculous amts & when you ask questions, they don't bother to respond. LOL This is way cheaper!

  4. Thanks sooo much for the follow!! It didn't really take too long to make, cutting the pieces was the biggest pain in the butt, but once your ready to glue them together you will be done in 5 mins. But yeah the ones from Ebay are way too expensive!! It really makes you wonder how so many people can get away charging THAT much for plastic lol.

  9. I love this!!! I saw a few videos on how to make these with the foam board. I think I'm going to do it. I'm not that great at putting things together though so this should be interesting lol. Yours isn't hung up on the wall, is it? Its really pretty though :)

  10. I started to make one with the foam board but screwed it up bad lol. So I went on Youtube to see other ways to make them and one girl made one out of popsicle sticks! lol..I know, it sounds crazy, right? But after watching the video it made sense. So I went to the $ store and got about 500 popsicle sticks and I just finished making mine. All I have to do is decorate it. It actually is sturdy too, I also used a hot glue gun

  15. Hey ladies I just built a wall shelf for mine. Its almost like there ones at the nail place but its wood. I went to lowes and they have pre cut strips of thin wood. I bought 9 of them. And a little pack of nails. Which cost 10 bucks together. the wood was 97cents each. We built the square frame and trimmed the other 5 prices about half an inch to fit and make shelves. It holds around 18 bottles on each row. It will hold 128 bottles if you use the very top. Very nice and sturdy.
